I think the military guys confronting the fakes are too aggressive, and the worst part is they make a Youtube vid of the impostor and post it online. I mean, shaming someone online is what girls do, I'd just settle it man to man. Pulling out a phone and starting filming is a stupid ass way of driving home a point.

The guy DID want to pose as military but didn't want to get in trouble. So he convinced his veteran friend to make a fake stolen valor video and sign an NDA so no charges would be pressed and it wouldn't be revealed. Then they film the video of him "acting" like a veteran and reveal it on youtube in a way that makes it look like an obvious hoax. Now when the stolen valor guy is confronted he can laugh it off and say it was a hoax when it was actually stolen valor all along.
it's typical cringe, gotcha moment type bullshit. when they start quizzing them on their units and asking them hyper specific and technical questions littered with jargon and acronyms it starts to get annoying.

It stems from the fact America has a military worship culture. The military exists to serve, it's your job, it's like thanking a pilot for not crashing the plane (with no survivors). I can understand if you went above and beyond, lost a leg to rescue PoWs or something of the sort, but how small is your dick that you need to be praised for fulfilling the basic requirements of your job?

I have absolutely zero respect for anyone in the military that hasn't seen active combat and it's so pathetic they wear their military service like a badge of honor despite doing nothing but sit in air conditioned bases, if they did any tours at all.
Veterans as a group as parasites on their country. The military in peace time is already considered welfare for people who are largely useless to the greater society, now large percentages of them want great pensions on top of it despite only 'serving' a few years. Even normal government employees have more tact than that.
