The threat of privateers to China’s maritime economy could strengthen deterrence and possibly prevent a war.
Privateering is not piracy—there are rules and commissions, called letters of marque, that governments issue to civilians, allowing them to capture or destroy enemy ships.1 The U.S. Constitution expressly grants Congress the power to issue them (Article I, section 8, clause 11). Captured vessels and goods are called prizes, and prize law is set out in the U.S. Code. In the United States, prize claims are adjudicated by U.S. district courts, with proceeds traditionally paid to the privateers.2 (“Privateer” can refer to the crew of a privateering ship or to the ship itself, which also can be referred to as a letter of marque).
This. the MAGA timeline must suck for our enemies however. They are about to have privateers up in their shit ensuring the American People get our fair share.
Wyatt Jones
They wouldn't be issued to you. They'd be issued to private mercenary companies like Blackwater or Academi with a hefty fee paid by the taxypayer.
Jose Diaz
Good. Leave bug extermination to the professionals. China needs to learn their place at sea. Seeking to exploit the impact of COVID19 on our great navy to expand their aggressive posture must be met with repercussions.
Privateering is a fancy way of saying piracy. Still good shit though.
Ian Johnson
Privateering is legal under US and international law.
Levi Garcia
Blackwater is now called XE
Juan Jenkins
Privateering requires a state of war. It is government sanctioned attacks on the citizens of another country. The only difference is its done by citizens rather than the military. It is still an act of war.
Logan Jackson
So? Would you want some chump doing it on the taxypayer dime?
Lincoln Evans
I was told we’d cruise the seas for American gold, we’d fire no guns- shed no tears- But now I’m a washed up man on a Halifax pier, the last of Barrett’s privateers.
the government paying private companies to do it is literally on the taxpayer dime
Evan Bailey

Sounds like a way to give an easy excuse for China to go full force in the Pacific, using the pretext of "muh American imperialism" that most leftist morons would happily guzzle down.

>xcuse for China to go full force in the Pacific, using the pretext of "muh American imperialism" that most leftist morons would happily guzzle down. It would be though if you started attacking their trade ships. Are you saying America wouldn't do that exact thing if China did the same shit to your ships?
Jaxson Ortiz
We don't need to punish China, though. US medical policy has been mismanaged for at least five years, deepening recently. An uninhibited medical research trajectory during that time wouldn't have left America open to this viral threat. The most efficient response by far is to repair our medical policies instead of submitting to the spineless primitive subservience of hateslavery, from which men are too broken to ever rise.
Liam King
than its pointless to discuss since your opinion comes from emotion not logic
