Some people basically made businesses around cheaper park tickets; basically Disney gave discounts for buying more days (5-day ticket was cheaper per-day than just buying a 1-day ticket) and I think you could potentially get them even cheaper if you knew somebody with company discounts/went to Costco/had a convention discount, so these businesses would buy the multi-day tickets, charged people between what the per-day value was and what Disney charged for a 1-day ticket, and pocketed the difference. Fingerprint scanners (and I think they may have added taking pictures) were added to effectively destroy this market.
