I hate the police but so do even my rich friends ONCE THEY HAVE HAD CONTACT WITH THEM. The fuck awful NHS is the same. You cannot have dealings with these organisations without thinking ‘this just isn’t right’. They are malevolent cowards, sneaks and liars. In America it's a more complicated relationship: the cops are as arbitrary, corrupt, and incompetent as anywhere else, but they do keep the chimpouts down to a low roar so we tolerate them.
When they started issuing them surplus military equipment from the Iraq war, that was a big mistake as it allowed them to pretend they were Delta Force OPERATORs in hostile territory and killings of innocents skyrocketed.
