it's complicated...almost impossible.

>when you get the switching sides thing too far

I can bluepill you. Nobody knows the truth about all these events

Brigate Rosse were literally just communist accelerationists killing politicians
Masons almost launched a coup but got arrested

Far Right Terrorists supported by MI6 .... Uhh wut

italy was always of strategic value for nato, being so close to warsaw pact's borders. due to the italian resistance being mainly communist, communism was really strong in italy back then and the two blocks clashed to gain control over italy. most of those movements were basically antifas on steroids, back then students would blow up banks and execute politicians instead of throwing shakes. the gov finally got pissed and raided them, most tried to hide in brasil, others got 40+ years. as for the far right movements, they were pathetically inefficient. while the commies wanted to destabilize the gov, the fascists wanted a fully fledged golpe. they obviously lacked men and resources to do that, like in the borghese case. and the sismi well, let's just say many members had ties with the cosa nostra

Why would you trust a spaghettianon to be impartial about those events? TL;DR Italians are lazy so like communism more than they should, so the right battled them and the glowniggers got involved to stop Italy falling to the Soviet puppet sphere.

Middle of the cold war.

>italy was always of strategic value for nato, being so close to warsaw pact's borders. due to the italian resistance being mainly communist, communism was really strong in italy back then and the two blocks clashed to gain control over italy
This. It's really complicated to explain. Even the average Italian ignores the these things apart from the main facade events. But to be short: politicians used extremists groups as proxies to reach their goals. On one side communists, foreignly supported by USSR, on the other, anti-commies (it doesn't matter if fascist or not, even if the majority of them for obvious historical reasons were so), foreignly supported by NATO (and by extension US/CIA, in an anti-USSR interest).

Also consider that Wikipedia doesn't specify it, but criminal syndicates were also heavily involved.

Yeah but why weren't we supporting the (i guess) Democratic government

Why did CIA/Mi6/NATO support the far-right instead of the Italian state? Were they actively combating the left on the ground?

National vanguard seems BASED

NAR was the real deal

still the red brigades were supported by the church

>Italian Government: Supported by the CIA
>Far-right groups: Supported by the CIA
Classic.

third position terrorists professed nazi maoism, or at least they called it so.
They thought that Mein Kampf and Mao's little red book were similar.

They were so extreme that Almirante of the Italian social movement sent boxers to beat them.

One politician of the league was a member of National Vanguard

They supported both. Even the pic of OP say so. Why? Because on one hand they needed to deploy armed civilians against commie organisations giving plausible deneability to the government, on the other they needed the support of part of the government (this was done secretly with only some politicians involved) for the stay-behind known as Gladio. Basically they were forming a legitimate paramilitary organisation to couple with a militia in the case of a communist takeover of Italy.

Italians are hilarious.

I want to hate them but the idea of all those swarthy midgets with mustaches running about shouting boppa di boopa at eachother over some trivial thing only they will understand... bless.

Is it ethical to keep Italians as pets?

also in the 70s borghese nearly succeeded in doing a fascist coup but freemasons changed mind at the last moment and the event had to be cancelled.

Because democracy doesn't kill commies, it get run over by them (plus, you probably were).

This . The government had to support the paramilitary, the civilians (far-right groups) would had constituted the militia.

E io che pensavo fosse solo uno stupido cuoco

the italian gov was heavily left leaning at the time, they didn't want to risk italy autonomously passing on the other side. i suspect italy was somehow forced to join nato and be a founder of eu just for this reason

Government backed by CIA. Why the fuck am I not surprised. Does the US ever keep the fuck out of a conflict?

>borghese
un inetto. il suo manifesto era uscito troppo presto, qualcuno ha cantato e il suo piano era andato a puttane. anche se dubito fosse mai stato in grado di portarlo a termine

and then Berlusconi, member of the masonic lodge became solitary leader of italy, forever
until he died
the end
all media was owned by him, so now by his heir
it's gonna be great

so that is a reason to not support the legal government?

nato is usa's turf, as the warsaw zone was the ussr's. usa meddled in practically every conflict in the 20th century. americans rarely declare war on someone, usually they use proxies. they did it in south america, in afghanistan, cambodia, and of course in europe as well

he humiliated the germans in multiple occasions

>golpe borghese
>golpe bianco
Entrambi avevano interessanti spunti nei rispettivi manifesti.
Tbqh I thank US for what they done. It's the lesser evil. If it wasn't for them Italy would had been a communist country, and today Italy would have been Eastern Europe tier.

it would have been far better, we would have taken the poverty and ultraconservative paesant pill and now migrants would not invade us.

Doub it! It would have been far worse. We would have lived in a former commie country, plus immigrants (consider Italy's geograpic position). Basically Greece.

more like Bulgaria but given our size we would have recoverd maintaining the anti liberal spirit.

gigachad

Interesting perspective, but I was hoping they would have backed the Right Wing group instead, but.. I guess we'll never have a shot at a Fourth Reich.

Lmao negro, borghese ha cessato il colpo per ordine americano.

Part of US government backed the far right anti-commies people of p2 and gladio, you're a bit confused I think.

Madonna, un superuomo. Grazie per la condivisione.

The Wikipedia article said they backed the government, so.. What the fuck do I know.

USA's necessities are the reason Italy wasn't guilt-tripped on Fascism as Germans had been on Nazism. Pure coincidence, not that US cared directly about Italy, rather they obviously had personal interests. The resistance was mainly made up of commies that wanted to substitute the Mussolini dictatorship with a communist one.

But that's just the superficial situation, the years of lead were much more complicated, those are what we call "italian stories" and we'll never know the truth, but overall English speaker people don't know anything because of lack of sources.
