The great tribulation is the final 3.5 year of earth's history. I'm talking about the 7 year tribulation which comprises that but not exclusively. It will start with the signing of a peace covenant between Israel and the Arabs to divide up Israel.
Trump has announced his peace plan and Netanyahu who just got a 18 month mandate yesterday is planning on annexing part of the 'west bank" in July. I'm sure this could bring the Arabs to the negotiating table.

If you arent aware preaching a post tribulation rapture is incredibly unpopular as people dont want to hear that we will all go through the great tribulation together.
We are spared Gods wrath however. Think of it like this, great tribulation is a lot of bad stuff but nothing quite supernatural.
Once Gods wrath begins to be poured out on earth is when you start to see things like hail, fire, and blood rain from the sky.
If you are saved you are spared this, but not the tribulation which is more earthly events like famine, wars, etc.
Hope this helps explain it, and a church family is important. Fellowship among other christians is stressed numerous times in the bible.
