I know these numbers are hard to believe for Western folks, but they're merely a consequence of strict Asian discipline. Western societies are soon going to learn the hard way about the benefits of having a rigorously administered state. It's too late to make any real decisions right now, but at least Western people are going to draw some conclusions as to the way one should rule over a society. No niceties, no bullshit, just deal with the flu and move on.

China has 1,400,000,000 people. Even the worst case scenario of a 3% fatality rate, that means that there are still 1,358,000,000 Chinese people.

Its so impossible to believe only because this is an incredibly infectious respiratory disease that is asymptomatic for weeks, and China has 1.4 billion people. This is a completely new virus. At day one, there are no tests; they don't even know what the virus is. It is allowed to run free for at least 30 days. How can the numbers not be fake?

Cope more, China owns so much US debt, and is relying so much on Chinese companies, your gov isn't going to do SHIT to them.
Also, why is it easier to assume that every East Asian countries like SK and China are lying about their figures than understanding that their totalitarian regimes and cultural discipline have curb efficiently the spread of the desease? Is Germany lying as well in your wild fantasies?

Authoritarianism and discipline pays off. Germany was able to do well because of great infrastructures and strict measures but in the end it is less effective if the population isn't willing to comply with stricter methods.
