Da Jewz.
You can move to Maine and do exactly that.
Good luck with 6 feet of snow in the winter.
You can if it passes inspection. Depending on the county and it's laws you can buy a piece of land and stick a trailer on it.
There's a lot of bullshit. I'm pretty sure there are places that you can do exactly what you want to do though. It varies by town and state.
Most places do have a lot of fucking rules. It's awful. Particularly if you still want to be semi-close to civilization. Everywhere within about 100 miles of me has a bunch of insane rules you need to follow even if you DO get your own land. So it's almost like it's not even "yours".
And the sad thing about property rights is that the left won't even defend them, which I think they're really wrong about (I'm sort of a lefty) because so many on the left don't believe in the concept of private property to begin with. But IDK we're not talking about big corporations raping the Earth or people owned 1000 acres and thieving all of that land from humanity or anything. We're talking about ordinary, often poor people, buying up a few acres and living their lives in accordance with nature on them. So yeah IDK it's BS but there's not much "freedom" in the "land of the free".
Also just saw that you're Canadian, I guess I don't know too much about what your laws are up there and my comment was mostly directed toward life in the USA and my experiences with American laws
vaccines didn't end sickness, waste water treatment did.
>$50k well, $30k well
Well shit big spender, maybe lose the second luxury well and you'd be better off.
kek I meant $30k permit
bro just shit in a composting toilet
Those sheds are not built to code in my neck of the woods.
However:
>No mandatory electricity
>Well cost is ~$7k
>Can build on concrete piers
>Holding tank is $4k, whereas true septic is ~$10k
tl;dr It's all about location.
You would know, wouldnt you?
Gotta love how cheap and easy it is to do things today and yet the price has never gone down lol
>Shit! All this labour saving tech is allowing our cattle to not have to work! What the fuck do we do?
>Bro just charge $50k for the permit and institute absurd building codes and zoning laws
You are a retarded astroturfer but this could evolve into something viable with some effort and better technology. It certainly would trigger some (((people))).
Also you can go off-grid for water, energy, ...
Buy a shit house and let some other working schmuck pay you rent to live there. You live out back in the prefab shed. Put some trees around it and build a porch and shit. Make it yours. Problem solved.
>Also you can go off-grid for water, energy, ...
Stop right fucking there goy. You are going to pay $40k for a well and $30k to have the electricity ran to your cuck shed or we're going to fucking imprison you and burn your shed down.
You can literally buy land and build on it yourself.
What's the big deal about paying for a water (and trash) bill though? It's barely anything. If you have the cash to buy the land, you have the cash to pay a water bill the rest of your life.
because
>So it's almost like it's not even "yours".
It is only 'yours' in your own imagination. People deal with it anyway because we all need a place to live. You need to get permits to do anything on the outside and almost anything on the inside. You are required to obtain a certificate of occupancy to move in. You are forced to be connected to the electrical grid in most areas. You can only use it for certain things and you have to meet minimum and maximum sq. footage requirements. You are limited in the number of people who can live there. You have to pay rent to the government in form of property taxes. Short them a dollar and eventually the sheriff shows up and kicks you out at gunpoint. All it takes is the suspicion that you are doing something wrong or a call from a nosey neighbor for the government to swoop in, break down your door and go through all of your shit. Private property is just a figment of your imagination sold to you by clever marketers of the American Dream.
let me go check my mail
Well put. The degree of total control they have over us is hard to fathom until you try to escape their slave system.
?
fuck off retard
The only thing you need to make it livable is running water that's it. I had a situation about 10 yrs ago with a hotel that was being shut down and city services basically said that the only absolute essential was water.
So get running water into it or means to have it. Get a generator and yes almost anywhere you can buy land you can have your shed.
Just call it a tiny house.
Shedlet here.
Do I have to build or does it come built?
I’m not building shit.
Millennial detected.
Is that you Ted?
And what have you built?
I think hes asking why he cant just buy land and stick a prefab on it. No mains supplies, no inspections, no plumbing. its a pretty dumb question, who would want to live like that.
Because you can have power, clean water and adequate sewage disposal without buying into the government's cartel
All kinds of shit. Multiple chicken coops. Water pump shed. Tree house for the kids (two story). Chimney on my house. Rebuilt a Jeep Wrangler. Fences, installed gates, drywall. Basic shit but harder than a prefab shed with fucking materials, hardware and instructions with diagrams.
So much based activity in this little thread! All of these things are reason enough for us to form breakaway civilizations that don't have these anchors hanging around our necks.
Are there not enough people who truly love freedom to give this a try? Or does freedom always lead to shittopian nanny state?
Lying fellow buildlet.
right, user here gets it, he knows that water comes out of the faucet, just turn the knob dummy
Why the fuck would I lie about this?
Eventually we'll get to this point in this country. But it's probably at least a century away, with a lot of tyrannical hell before we get there. There are places that are much freer than the US though, like Estonia.
Does the house have to be this size and with these materials? No concrete/steel/brick?

>who would want to live like that.
Was not the question asked. Question asked was why couldn't those who would like to live like that, live like that. Bongs are almost the worst, second only to canadian garbage.
