Basically printers are mercenary bastards, if you fuck up they don't care, their job is to print what you send them on the stock you ordered, anything outside that they do not give a shit about. The master that had been sent to them was wrong, so that had to be corrected, which meant regrouping the assembly team for that job who had by now all been reassigned to new projects, but not only that, the initial reservation with the printers had to be postponed until we could get the new master to them (it's not just a case of emailing a PDF) and they didn't like that because their machinery is supposed to run 24/7 so they had to move other stuff around. And then the stock order had to be cancelled and reordered, which meant involving the logistics team because the stock has to arrive at the time of printing, the printers won't warehouse it for you unless you're using their stock (which we weren't). And I had to consult legal every second step because of all the contracts we might have been in breach of. Essentially I was coordinating like a half dozen teams in different timezones. All because of one small, easily rectifiable mistake that bloomed into a massive issue because one guy took voluntary redundancy.
