I owe $33,000+ in child support for one child. Arrears only, there is no active support order for this child any longer. Hasn't been for 7 years because she's not mine. Mother refused to sign off on the debt despite knowing I wasn't the father and it would liberate me from financial bondage. Judge said the only way for the debt to disappear is to pay in full or the mother to excuse the debts, which she'll never do.
Anyway, the government issued me a stimulus with no additional information about a garnishment. Did I slip through the cracks or will my "check" be a letter stating it's been withheld?
My stimulus was taken for child support garnishment, so I'd say you got fucking lucky is all.

I quit my comfy job because my mom wanted me to move back in with her, and I thought I could get a job easily so I didn't look for work before moving. Big mistake. Mine is still saying this despite filing in 2018. It obviously has me registered in the system, yet it keeps giving me this status with no way to actually enter my information or update anything. Kafkaesque bureaucratic horse shit that is infuriating when the website is the only dead end.
I think anyone who owed tax in 2018 and did not file in 2019 is receiving this message as far as I've seen. It's crickets or unrelated reasons listed as possible reasons everywhere I've looked (eg. glitch blamed on Turbotax or tax intermediary, not listing your address exactly as described with abbreviations, etc). Hate the lack of accountability.
