The recession under Reagan stemmed from bad policy in the Carter administration that led to stagflation. There were fuel shortages, you could only get gas on certain days determined by the first digit or number of your license plate, commodities were jacked up, but you ignore it because it doesn’t fit in with the narrative.

Clinton had no recession because he had the benefit of having a Republican congress to balance the budget.

Economy crashed under Bush because of housing laws passed under Clinton that made it necessary for banks to lend to unqualified minorities. When a substantial number of these borrowers were unable to pay, the banks began to struggle and this precipitated a major economic downturn that had little to do with Bush.

Obama was a terrible president. He spent trillions on “shovel ready jobs” that never materialized. He gave hundreds of millions to Solyndra before they declared they were “bankrupt” aka they took the money and laughed all the way to the bank. He did basically nothing but stand in the way of the real recovery which America could do on its own due to its sheer resilience. It’s foolish to submit that he helped build up the economy rather than try to kill it while it was hobbling on one leg.

Then why is the global economy at a standstill? Other countries took precautions are having the same economic issues locally. Surely, it should be a purely American problem? Show flag kike

To say he has made mistakes is fair, but literally every major country in the world has implemented "social distancing." It is impossible not to have a recession when you implement measures like that. Even the countries that handled the virus the best like Germany and South Korea are also in recession right now.

In january, and even early feb, the only people who were talking about it seriously were people on this very forum. Just about every Democrat, and so called "media expert" were criticizing Trump for doing anything about it, especially during that China travel ban. Even the World Health Organization stated there was no evidence of human transmission as late as february. Trump did more about it than any expert was telling him to do, and the US is in better shape than major european nations, with most US cases appearing in New York, and concentrated in NYC, the most heavily populated city in the US.

It would have been much worse under a Democrat. Trump pushed the stock market up to almost 30,000. Under a Democrat, with new regulation they would have made sure it never passed the 21,000 or 22,000 it was in November 2016 and possibly brought it lower. A virus coming along at that stage would have more or less erased it entirely.
