But how does Tecent, a Chinese company whose main products are games and IRC services, get access to the real data? I don't believe a Chinese commercial company can do that. Everything published in China is really under control. And anyone other than the government itself doesn't have the chance to get the whole dataset.

Yes, Tencent is a very reliable source and is a gov proxy. There was no correction advisory to those original numbers when it happened. The bigger question remains is it a weapon? Is it designed to resemble coronavirus but spliced with HIV or working on a hidden timer?
