They need to keep their hands and noses out of places they have no business being. They can do pretty much do what they want with what anime are brought over to the west, but do you know how few people actually get their anime from the west? The vast and vocal majority get theirs straight from japan, either from fansubs or just outright purchasing the BDs. Some Japanese studios have even started including English subs on their local BDs. And as for American comics, there are already plenty of people who grew sick of the subversion and have begun creating their own. If the regressives want to shit up anime and manga now that they've succesfully ruined their own media, I suspect that 1) they will be met with more resistance, both from fans and creators in Japan then they could possibly imagine and 2) fans would just start creating their own as well. Although it's going to be a while before CGI is good enough and cheap enough for someone to make a respectable looking indie anime, it will eventually become more doable. Let them crash whatever big industries they want, the fans will make their own, all the while showing even more fervent support to the few who do not sell out.

They have better representation of every kind, because in the west if a character is an ethnic minority or is a faggot or what-have-you, that is their entire character, that's their personality and that is the reason they are written into something. In anime, if a character is one of those things, they don't make the character just that, but that is a part of their overall character. Japan does it so much better than the west already, but not in the name of being regressive, but in the name of good story-telling. Besides, I thought western imperialism was bad?
