One idea might be to not perpetuate suicidal ideation in those who suffer by needlessly disseminating a video of a young man shooting himself in the head.

Maybe you are genuinely concerned about the suicide epidemic in the white male community but sharing this sort of shocking gore possibly only serves to reinforce the consideration of suicide as an option.

If you're wanting to kill yourself;

1. Don't watch this video.
2. Share your story so the rest of us can support and offer advice.
3. Consider calling the national suicide hot line.

Not suicidal, but have come to realize that I will die some day anyway, so what difference is it if I die today or in 60 years?

It’s inevitable, and no matter how you spend your life, and no matter what achievements and legacy you leave behind, you won’t be there to witness it anyway.

You can interpret this in several ways, you can spend your life as a literal asshole, as it won’t matter, you can spend it on something meaningful and enjoy the time you have, or off yourself if it’s not working out for you.

Wonder if this is what drives people to suicide, the realization of meaninglessness + depression.

Being positive and supporting young men/boys to live a life with personal self-esteem. Everything is geared towards superficiality these days, and you see this with homosexuality as well as bling-culture. What you can do, personally, is engage with the young people in your life and encourage them; show them you love them. More than anything else, this is important.

This is not so much a white problem as it is a male problem. It is man who are feeling useless in society, if it's not suicide it is "checking out" and isolation that happens. A society based around helping the most men possible would be optimum. Give them work with purpose, give them a women who cares for him and fathers his children, give him time to reflect, learn and grow in between his work/family life. This would allow a country to flourish for millenia.

Good leaf friend. I think watching the video might be beneficial though, to show people how horrible suicide is and the kind of disgusting mess they would be leaving behind. I've been depressed pretty much all my life and have been in pretty bad places, but faith in Christ and not wanting to hurt my family have kept me going.

This type of "tough love" sentiment does not help. When I was going through raging swings of bipolar disorder, none of that shit mattered. If anything, it made me want to blow my head off even more because in my mind, I thought "You people are just too big of pussies to end your own existence." Be supportive and listen to what people have to say. A lot of the time what stops people from pulling that trigger is knowing that somebody is there for them.
