Willpower obviously matters. Multiple mental traits do. But skill is the most decisive factor, if you wanted to foolishly argue one trait matters over everything. Fighting requires multiple mental traits. Patience, willpower, creative thinking, pattern recognition, etc. You really have no clue how developed someone who trains regularly is. Skills matter, period.
and the way i got good at martial arts was sparring against people better than me and asking them for advice. being humble and thinking about what I did wrong and what they did wrong. every sparring session is a learning experience.
