I asked him for a rent reduction since I lost my income to corona-chan, and what amount he thinks is fair, then he gives me this response. Over the last several years I've always paid my rent on time.
Do you think it's right for landlords to be taking a tough stance on full rent payment? Some shared sacrifice seems more reasonable.

If you failed to save for hard times while you were working then it's on you. No one owes you anything. Plus, you'll be eligible for CERB, so there's $2,000 a month straight up right there. Pretty reasonable, the world doesnt revolve around you. Renting has always been a less stable situation, and renters agree to that. Deluding yourself into thinking its just like owning property leaves you actually being surprised that people arent going to fund your living expenses. If you have a real problem with this, petition banks and utilities to ease their bills. Why should it stop at helping renters?

I'm a landlord and he's a moron. He's never going to find another tenant now and should be cutting anything he reasonably can to keep you from moving. This is a transaction subject to market forces. Most landlords are totally clueless about this.

My landlord is being chill about this, but still demanding on time payments but is willing to talk to people who are struggling financially. As long as you aren't a rent striking nigger you should be fine.
