The fact is, we were created to last forever. It's just that we would either spend that eternity in heaven or hell. To spend eternity in hell is what's referred to as the "second death". Now that you exist, you will never cease to exist. You, one way or another, will be a part of the rest of eternity.
Heaven is what you want because in heaven, you will receive the beatified vision and will thus be able to gaze upon God the Father and praise him eternally. I believe some exorcist got Satan to confess that he would be dragged through barbed wire for thousand miles just to look upon God once more so you'll definitely enjoy heaven as gazing upon God trumps any pleasure this world has to offer you.
