Waging in California

Well Yas Forums I'm being relocated to San Jose for work. I'll be making $28 an hour (around $58k a year), along with a $12,000 signing/relocation bonus. I have $14k in student debt. I own a car and a gun and I'll be bringing both with me. Rent looks like it'll be $2000 for a one bed apartment. How do I find roommates who aren't total commies? Are the taxes going to ass fuck me? Is waging worth it? Is the bay area as bad as it's made out to be? Does it even matter since corona is gonna kill us all anyway?

$58k isnt nearly enough for San Jose, dude. I live in Los Angeles and I make $61/hr and I still rent and scrape by. You'll never be able to save and work towards owning a home. Where are you at now?

I'm 21 and finishing college in North Carolina. My rent here is only $333 for a room lmao. My step grandmother's brother in San Jose just passed away, so his house is vacant, but he was a hoarder so it's a disaster right now. I'm hoping they'll let me live there if I offer to clean it out, but he just died last week, so I'm not going to be a dickhead and bring it up today. I don't plan on staying there forever, I just want to get my debt paid off within 2 years, and some experience under my belt.

Yo can I make good money in So-Cal working as a plumber?

Yes

your fed+state payroll deductions will be over 30%, FYI

Damn that's pretty expensive, I started working in a call centre and it pays Rs 500,000 but the rent here is just Rs 10,000 for a 2 BHK apartment, electricity water included. I'm doing a degree in CS and am debt free. Man you guys aren't kidding when you say boomers have fucked housing in US. Also my income isn't enough yet to pay any taxes.

BTW believe it or not where I live the streets are poo free , however you only have to drive like 10-20 km if you wanna see that

This is a shit plan and you should stay where you're at. No one in the bay area will like you when they hear your gool ol boy accent.

If you own your own business, yes. Otherwise you'll be crawling under houses and sweating pipe for $20 an hour and struggling to get by.
t. did residential electrical for years.

Jesus fucking christ $58k in the Bay area is literally nigger poverty tier wages. You are going to be raped with housing, food, and transport. And btw everyone is a fucking commie shitbag who hates you, believe me. Don't fucking do it user, stay in NC.

Can confirm state income tax is a motherfucker

this is fucking pathetic, why do you guys live in in california? there's no excuse. you're literally slaves for the welfare class

>almost half your income is taken in taxes
why do you guys put up with this?

Keep in mind it will cost you at least twice as much to move out of California when you inevitably tire of the state. I myself just moved out of CA and it was actually cheaper to make the drive twice and rent a towable trailer for several days than it was for the one way rental. Do your business in Cali with your uncles house or whatever, get that fucker cleaned up and sell it, live like a king in based states like texas oregon Tennessee Kentucky wyoming or stay where you're at. PS bring marketable non nigger skills if you travel.

>and I'll be bringing both with me.

You won't be bringing your shooty iron into the Socialist Republic of Commiefornia, so dispense with that fantastic bullshit.

>rent is 2k a month
>make 58k a year
nigga don't do that

Taxes are the price we pay for civilization, citizen.

>why do you guys live in in california?
I was born here. My cushy, secure maritime job is here and I like being near the beach. I wont retire here, though.

Let's do some math

58k/year is about 4800/mo gross. Assuming you net about 2/3 of that, you're bringing in 2800/mo.

If you spend 2k/month on rent, that leaves you only 800/mo for food/fuel/transportation/parking/insurance/etc

I hope you're splitting that 2k with roommates at the very least.

You can room with me. I accept payment in manpussy.

He used the word roommate in his post, dummy.

What's shit about it? I think paying off debt and getting good job experience isn't so bad of a plan. I don't care if people don't like my accent lmao, they can get fucked if they care that much.

I'm ginger so I guess nigger tier suits me.

Good advice thank you, I'll keep it in mind when the time comes.

Probably shouldn't but I don't have a choice now lmao. This is the only job offer I've gotten and I graduate in 3 weeks.

That puts me down to 41k which is what they would've given me if I had been relocated to somewhere in NC. So the rent and finding roommates remains the big issue.

$800 is plenty for food/gas/insurance if you're not a sped consumer like I'm guessing most people in California are.

I didn’t think I could be this uninterested in a single post

Get an efficiency for 1200-1400, ditch the car and gun, figure out a PPE solution and use public transportation to get around and live frugally.

>What's shit about it?
The part where the whole plan hinges on being offered a dead guy's house to live in for free

I hid it immediately when I saw the flag and "call centre"

will there be massive inflation?

how will this affect people with rent control vrs those who do not?

sfbay

His heirs are going to want to sell it, it will be worth a fortune once they clean out all the crap.
I don’t think you should count on living there.

I had to be the bringer of bad news but I’m currently making 98k/year (as of last year) in San Jose and barely can afford a 1BR apartment, let alone food.

I mean if you can manage to climb the corporate ladder fast enough go for it but if there's no potential for raise that's a wild bet.

ive been living in the cali for the past ten years off 10k/year
most of that time ive even been paying rent. lots of free stuff and opportunities out here for a crafty city dweller

58k in California is roughly equal to about 10k elsewhere. You are moving to be a serf.

>san jose too expensive for 100k/yr
rent $750/mo x 12 = 10k
$200/mo on food = 3k
car insurance, gas and upkeep = $1500/yr (you live in sj, ride a bike, its faster than driving)
cell and internet 1k/yr
taxes 30k/yr?

that leaves you like 55k/yr

Oh that bit. Yeah that probably won't happen but the other parts can still work if I'm frugal.
He had no children, it's my grandmother's place now and her husband is already loaded. I'm not going to count on it, but it sure would help, even if it's only for a month.
I like the sound of a wild bet
Have any advice on where to look for this free stuff and opportunity?
I've been a serf my entire life so I guess this is the natural progression
He probably lives on his own in some $3k a month apartment and blows his money on eating out, unless there are some crazy life circumstances they left out.

hobo tax trick for working a year to save up for a year of vacation:

start work in halfwaythrough the tax year and wuit halfway through the next tax year so then that cuts your income tax in half

Hey I live in the bay area, if you want to save on rent whore yourself out to Asian girls, if you're a decent looking white. Seriously these girls will let you live with them as long as you fuck them and do stuff with them, they're desperate for white cock and when one starts giving you attitude find another
