Well... I hate that fucking bitch and live in her Somalian infested district, but that wouldn't be that bad a thing right now, especially for small landlords and their tenants.

My tenants came to me and said they can't afford to pay rent because one is a singer and the other is a fitness coach at a large gym and neither has had work for more than a month. I said no problem and we worked out a payment plan when things get back to normal. I am the one taking the hit because mortgage is still due as are all the other bills. I have a good job that is essential and have quite a lot in savings for just this sort of thing even if that bill doesn't pass. If it does I will probably just tell the tenants that they don't owe me for this month or however long the bill goes.

The thing about small landlords like me is that most of my tenants end up living in my houses for decades to the point that they're my friends too. Fitness coach has lived in my other house for going on ten years and is the caretaker. Singer girl has been my downstairs tenant for three years.

I have talked to them that they need to start saving more. Both have very nice cars and spend money frivolously on stupid shit. Singer girl I have been having upstairs to have dinner with my wife, kid and I for a couple weeks now. She is maybe 22, just got out of college with a useless degree, and is paying debt, most of which is her fault, but she is young and stupid, and isn't a reason to starve her or fucking ruin her financially forever.

I still hate Omar and everything she stands for, but that would be a good thing for people right now.

they should unironically guarantee that jobs lost because of government shutdown will be available to the same people once the shutdowns end (which should be a specific date, not (((indefinitely))), and pause rent until the same date.

If the government forces business to pause and many people to be out of work, it is a good idea to just put the economy on pause as much as possible. I think that might go a long way to saving the economy. I hope one of Ilhan's husbands congratulates her for a job well done in this case.
I have a feeling though that there are so many nuanced details with a bill like this that the government is inevitably going to fuck up.
(what happens if you live in one state that's shut down but work in another state, what if you already paid your rent, what if your rent term expires in the middle of the pandemic, does the departure date get pushed backwards or you just stay there for ever, what if you work from home anyway, etc)
There's so many complicated details that are going to screw over say 20% of the public here, possibly lots more.
