Their conclusions also can make sense to the layman who doesn't know biology but understands rudimentary probability and the basic concepts behind data. Jup, those inserts. Are about 6 AA long if I remember correctly, so about 18 base pairs ... did once knock a genetic tag of similar length into a plasmid by mutagenesis primers. Worked nicely. Just have to design them with online tool, order your primers and the PCR mutagenesis kit, mix all together according to manual, push into PCR machine ... then go for a long coffee break. Packaging into virions in cell culture would be more tricky, would say about a week of work.

I think Occam's Razor supports the idea that this naturally arose? I think that the comments in the article I posted point to that idea. I think that if you want to prove your conspiracy you may have to even implicate these spread out scientists in this as disinfo agents? Why are these reputable scientists with hundreds if not thousands of citations showing what is probabilistically true. That these base pairs, are short in length and thus can appear randomly, especially due to natural evolution. That they exist in other speices in abundance and even in previous iterations of corona virus related to bats.
