American cops are trigger happy idiots. If you're a basketball American with drugs it's better to shoot first because otherwise you got a good chance to end up dead or beaten to death in addition to going to a shithole prison system where you get raped.
In Canada you only wind up dead from a "self inflicted bullet wound" if you're a child murderer. Plus shooting cops actually adds time to your sentence. In the US people who end up shooting cops already knew they were going to get life in prison beforehand.
