I majored in math back in university. To even get an entry level code monkey job I had to provide a list of all of the CS courses I'd completed in university. I had enough programming knowledge to perform my current code monkey job when I was in high school. Hiring managers and HR staff are that retarded that they believe it takes decades of experience + training to do some of these jobs.

I work fewer than 40 hours a week. I dont pretend this is attainable for most people and I am very blessed. But school is not needed. To answer your question with a question: what's the alternative? Would i choose this if we had the power to change it? No. But i get evenings and weekends with my kids and we live a good life. My wife stays at home with them and if i were to lose my job, construction management is always going to be needed so i always havd the opportunity for a job
