You underestimate how much social conditioning makes people prefer light skin. First off in every single culture in the history of mankind, light skin has been considered attractive because royalty was lightskinned. People who worked in the fields had darker skin than people who stayed in palaces all day, or teachers and academics etc. Thus light skin = status = attractive. That's the historical reason, but secondly, it's also because of media. The main stars of most conventional media are white, and we look to their stardom and status as attractive. Before you think this is "obvious", there are many case studies which show that you develop attraction to features based on media. There was a part of India that wanted to secede in the late 1900's, and to rebel the state government only showed Korean shows on TV for years. Generations grew up thinking Korea was the hottest shit as a result. My cousin married an Indian dude and he said his grandma etc. only ever wanted to go to Korea and thought people there were the best. Not Europe, not the US, only Korea.
And it's not just backwater third world countries where this is happening. Young American men today who consume a ton of anime often say that they prefer Asian women and their demeanor to white women. It's all around you. This is what the Jews are trying to do with more racemixing in popular media. You may think it doesn't work, but obviously there's way more interracial couples today than there were 50 years ago. Given enough time and enough signs of status for dark skinned people through lead roles in movies, sports etc. more and more people will steadily find darker skin increasingly attractive. You may think it's never gonna catch up but given say 30 years of intense programming it totally could to the next generation.
