Religion, family, work? I'm so tired of it all and it feels like my genetic 'survival' instinct has gone. I'm mid 20s and am exhausted.

Gardening and woodworking is fine. You do something and you immediately see the results, or in the former case after some weeks and its something fulfilling. The more and more I am working in and with nature, I begin to really hate technology. I should have listened to the teachings of uncle Ted before I graduated in CS.
Charity work. Pick a charity that you will enjoy doing. I am doing a charity that 3D prints face shield frames and donate them to medical centers during the pandemic.

Improving your local community is next. I refurbed some old shops that were going dirt cheap. The refurb matches how the shops were 50-60 years ago. SMall town high street all started copying my idea and it looks great. Only 1 shop out of 17 is still to be taken, but its a strange little one, i might just give it to the town council in return for a rebate

Well the most basic thing would be a long walk in nature, perhaps for a few days, with little equipment and food, this is the kind of challenge I prefer the most, because it is the most primal, and primalism is what lacks in the modern Western man, so I compensate my domestication with these short, wild travels.
In specific days I get workout goals. So for example every second week on a certain day I set a goal for myself which will be a certain workout regimen, and during other days I prepare to fulfill that regimen, if I fail I keep training, if not I feel great and keep making the challenge harder. In other words I try to give it a more ritualistic nature, it is an initiation into a stronger me, because when you work out regularly you don't really notice the results due to a slow progress or sometimes you don't even have a significant result because you are not training rigorously.
There is also this thing I do in society, when I notice that there is a conflict of convenience and principle for me, I force myself to do what is inconvenient despite that giving my unnecessary discomfort and slightly ruining my relationship with someone. For example I fought an acquaintance because he borrowed a few laris (our currency), which is very little, but then said he had no money to pay me despite the fact he promised me to return the money quickly, the money did not matter, but the promise did, so I acted accordingly. This is about lying in general, when someone says a lie, whether he knows it or not, you must say the truth, but you must be fully confident in that truth first.
I think kids will give an extra meaning to my life, that's why I want to pay a surrogate mother one day. This and economic security is all I need, otherwise life offers you lots of nice things.
How do you give it meaning, with permanence, rather than just sporadic flairs of motivation?
I totally empathise man, it's seems that the more I read and learn, the less connected I feel to modern living, technology and meaning in this world.
Do you balance charity work with a career?
I used to from my late-ish teens to early 20s, the dopamine is fleeting.

I've always noticed that having children seems to lessen the burden of nihilism as your responsibility means you don't have a choice, not sure it's the right reason to procreate though haha.

First, having a normal, working brain helps. I mean this unironically. Some folks are either born, or get their brains fucked up, either by accident or through some lifestyle. Veterans have a high rate of suicides for examples. Secondly, I'm a pretty curious person, and get easily amused, and human ignorance is infinite, so there's a life time of learning, which led me to art, I do art for a living and I love it, and there's no limit to improvement. Seeing my work get better every day is a blast. Thirdly, there are people out there that I love, I love my family and friends, and spending time with them is almost always a joy. I find these small things are what give my life meaning, not some overly-ambitious overarching goal or dream.
