I'll give them one point for an actual attempt to create a new species to play as. That was far better than their Dark Eldar (boooooring) and Necrons (space undead? really? What the fuck were they smoking when they came up with that idea?,) trying to make 40k into Fantasy In Spaaaaaaaaaace!
Notice the difference in the level of cool when you compare their actually creative ideas behind the Skaven from Fantasy and Tyranids from 40k. Those two are very one off weird and something you don't often get anywhere else. Tau could use a little work but at least it was a try. I hated them when they came out because they are weak sauce creativity, but they do have a charm about them.
