Are HOAs good or bad?

The only ones that are worth a shit are the ones that collect funds only to maintain neighborhood facilities and/or only have statutes based around new construction such as minimum square footage or attached garages only.

they make sense for multi-unit housing like condos but the point, for me anyway, of owning a stand alone house is that it's all yours
