The retarded thing about these graphs are that they simply assume a mask is useless if it doesnt protect YOU yourself.
The point is not to protect yourself from the virus, the point is to protect others. Cloth mask wont stop you from getting the virus when someone coofs at you, but it will stop you from infecting another person if you coof or even just talk to them.
If everyone at once starts wearing them then you can reduce how the virus spreads quite efficiently.
I'm really happy my country started doing that quite long ago.

The ACTUAL dangerous part here is that cloth masks are now another surface that can be contaminated. If they aren't handled properly, it's more dangerous than wearing nothing.

Cloth masks may not block particles well but they certainly reduce their reach.
If you talk to someone face to face from over half a meter without any mask on, the particles can reach them quite easily. Not so much when wearing a mask, so unless you like talking to people from 0.25 m distance the chances of infecting them are way smaller.

How does this make sense? If someone infected coughs at you then it doesnt matter if your mask ends up contaminated or your fucking face instead.
And unless you let other people touch your mask for whatever reason then whats the danger for them? That being said, yes, you have to wash them in high temperatures frequently, but that should be common sense.

Nobody is saying cloths masks are as effective than N95 or 100. Something is always better than nothing if you don't have access to proper gear, even if it is only a couple percent. Homemade masks also limit expelled particles from the already infected.
If I didn't have proper gear or preps to limit exposure I'd sure as shit do whatever I could to keep the ignorant masses from spreading chink-aids to me and mine.

Masks are just another tool. If it's used improperly, it won't be very effective. So for the general public I am assuming that they won't be taking the proper precautions. This includes proper way to take it off / washing. I also am saying that there is a greater risk of contaminating other surfaces since whatever the mask comes into contact with will also have a chance of becoming contaminating.
I don't know the exact details so I'd appreciate a link to a source on how this works, but from my understanding coming into contact with a contaminated source does not guarantee 100% that you will become infected at that time. So, if I coof on your face it's possible that you might not get it. If I coof on your mask though, every time you touch that mask it has a chance of infecting you. And everything that mask touches has a chance of contaminating that new surface.
I think the best way people can protect themselves is to not come into contact at all with others. I also worry that a mask might lull people into a false sense of security and make it easier to break other, more effective methods.
