It seems very counter intuitive, but the half assed lockdowns actually increase the number of deaths. Nearly all deaths are elderly, and by neither letting the disease burn itself out nor locking everything down completely the virus is able to stay around longer.
The Swedes are doing it right; let the cases spike so everyone catches it at the same time while old people quarantine. The virus will run its course through the majority of the population and be gone by summer, reducing the risk to the elderly.
