I graduated with a double degree in Philosophy and Psychology. Can confirm that Philosophy was the only set of rigorous classes I had throughout college. Many enjoyable lectures and debates. I am not well aware of how US uni's work. But here only if you are in the top 20% of intelligence (which sort of get tested at 12yo) you are allowed to enter uni. Which roughly makes the average uni student here have an IQ of 120. With a spread of 110 - 130 probably depending on the subject.

My degrees are in finance and accounting, but I made my decision based on future earning potential and acquiring the skills to successfully run my own business and investments. I have many friends in finance, and they all say accounting classes were their hardest classes. The kids I know in accounting seem way smarter so that doesn't seem right.

Finance had actual math (statistics) and Accounting was all memorization and basic arithmetic. I found the Accounting harder in upper level classes due to all the memorization as it was so boring. In Finance, the math just got more complicated, it was great. Way less people in my Finance classes by the end, and less women too.
