The US(and the World for that matter) should look at this quarantine/lock-down as a test gauge to figure out if Corona aka Covid-19 is truly lethal enough to keep everything shutdown the way it is right now.
When the virus has been around since early 2019(first identified in late 2019 in November), the world was not shut down over it. The vast majority of those infected(even elderly) don't get symptoms and if they do get symptoms they are fairly mild. Only a very small percentage require hospitalization due to preexisting conditions and a smaller percentage of that actually die from it. People with preexisting conditions or old age are going to die anyways for one reason or another, that is just the harsh reality.
The Global economy is suffering and the US economy is collapsing because it was never meant to have everyone not be working and be hiding in the house.
A much more serious and deadly virus is the Femin Virus, but that is something everyone is scared to talk about and/or let alone name right?. The good news with that particular virus is that if you wipe out all hosts, the virus stays dead and doesn't come back.
Covid-19 is far less lethal and less society/civilization/population destructive compared to the Femin Virus. Covid-19 can be treated and even a vaccine(not from Bill Gates) could help and work against it, that is not the case for the Femin Virus.
The point I'm trying to make is that Covid-19 is a mole hill being made into a mountain, and that we have bigger fish to fry(or demons to kill in this case) when it comes to other viruses and/or bioweapons.
US needs to re-open, millions are out of work and can't put food on the table or pay rent. Society is also starting to realize and appreciate supply chain jobs, along with how important domestic production in the US is(US is over dependent on China for vital goods and overall production).
