I worked with glowies for a bit. The way I got hired was by hacking my CS professor's UNIX account to show her that she didn't know what she was talking about re an argument in class about security we'd had then emailing her about it as a fuck you. I expected some retaliation (this was before such hacking would have meant a visit from SWAT) but she instead offered me a job working on defending systems from malware. Turns out all those jobs are actually about creating malware to use on other countries and businesses that aren't aligned with US interests. And so I wrote malware for a couple years with the NSA's shitty tools.
