I have a conspiracy theory for this. Ironically, I think it's to encourage women to give up, rather than stay fit.
See, when I was a kid, we had a system for running the mile where anything above 10 minutes was always a "pass" but below 10 you got letter grades. What ended up happening was that the fit kids all pushed themselves to get the best grade possible, but everyone else just walked the whole way.
I see this same thing happening to a lot of women. On the one hand you have the Instagrammers who focus on being as fit and beautiful as possible because they're all in competition for attention and approval. Then on the other hand you have women who completely give up.
"I'll never look like Emma Watson" she says, logging out of Pottermore "Why even try?"
She grabs the box of blue dye, time to top off her roots.

The only thing a woman has to do is to put a little bit of effort on her appearance and her life is set. She doesn't have to work, study or go to war. Even if she doesn't, she will find a man because incel women don't exist.

Get 20 photos. 10 men. 10 women. Each an average rung in a 1-10 looks scale. Then, make 20 profiles on a dating site, using a different photo for each. Report back with results. We shall see for whom unrealistic beauty standards exist.
