Why are Mexicans immune to the virus?

after socially isolating for 31 days(I prepped in january) i just went to the mart. on a distance of ~1km packed with street food and restaurants at least 25 out of 40 were still open and running shit as usual, despite foreclosures and fines enforced by the governor. my city has 5,000,000 inhabitants and since its a governor from an opposing party to the government everything is being handled differently from the rest of the country. There has only been 4 kung-flu dead and there is currently ~6 cases in the entire city. the numbers don't add up. we have an international airport with direct flights to NY, LA, italy and spain.

It's really bizarre. Numbers are not being hidden by incompetence either, pneumonia deaths are down. What the fuck is going on? MSM keeps saying Mexico is going to be the worst case scenario but i'm just not seeing it man.

the weather is certainly abnormal this year. we're entering heat season and the entire day is cloudless and scorching but the night is still pretty cold. my entire state has 159 confirmed cases and 11 dead, 500 tests are being made every day but as I mentioned the pneumonia numbers are not abnormaly high either. Also besides the airport we have the main pacific cargo sea port in the country which obviously receive a lot of chinese ships. I just can't explain it. By all estimates we should be right at the same spot as spain or italy by now.

I don't know how things are going in your neck of the woods, but from where i am, things are starting to accelerate.

My town is locked down from the outside. No one allowed in or out and the roads are blocked off. Went outside for the first time in weeks today and there were a ton of people out and about, but not really doing anything. Mostly walking their dogs and riding bikes and skateboards in circles Kek.

Yucatán is being pretty strict at the state and town level. Most cases are confined to Cancún and the local government basically told the federal government to fuck off.

My town is full of manufacturing shops, there's been 12 deaths at a single one (LEAR). Low paying jobs. I wonder if this could have been prevented, dunno, I know it's hard to stop working but it's better to eat beans for a couple of months than dying and leaving your family unattended. Sad all around. May God have mercy on our country, we're gonna need it (we always do, but still). Stay safe mexibros.
