I'm 34 years old, have a good career and a family, and have never owned a cell phone. Never. There are many inconveniences I face that you wouldn't, especially when coordinating meeting with others and looking for directions, but they usually aren't too bad. There have been a handful of times I've had a major inconvenience and thought "fuck, I should get a phone, I can't have this happen again" but a few hours later I think "fuck that".

You'd have inconveniences, mostly minor, to deal with. I'm sure these would seem catastrophic to you but that's because you are used to the instant gratification world of always having access to a smart phone. If your waiting around, you'll have to learn to occupy yourself beyond compulsive phone use. There will be social repercussions and possibly some work issues, but they aren't that big of a deal.

I definitely live and see things differently than the cell phone folks. Small differences, but taken altogether they are pretty big. For example, when I go for a hike with the dog or hunt/forage, I'm on my own. When I leave the house, I'm incommunicado. I love it, there is a sense of freedom and personal responsibility that you guys wouldn't understand.
