My particular hospital has the most confirmed COVID cases of any in my state. Luckily I live in a bumfuck nowhere state so that means it's still not crisis-tier yet. But we're getting there. This is the calm before the storm for sure. Almost all non-COVID operations at my site have been suspended until further notice.

For instance:
Since the COVID lockdown our hospital valet staff have been repurposed to screening staff and visitors coming in. On friday they furloughed all of the valet workers and told them they couldn't come in to screen anymore.

Come monday they sent out emails bitching that nobody in their department volunteered to come in and do screening. After just three days ago they told them they can't come in anymore. Then they said "fuck it make security do the screening" and then sent out emails bitching that security was not supposed to be doing screening, they're just supposed to do security things.

Not that kind of hospital employee. My degree is not medical.

I know a 90-year-old in CO that broke her back about a month ago and was told to stay home and take OTC painkillers.
There were few confirmed cases in the area at the time. Seems absurd to me.
