Radar/LIDAR mapping, plenty of free airspace right now, so its easy to get the re-routing you need for other planes to get your shit done.

I thought Lidar in the UK was done using Cessna 404 Titans? At least 2 years ago thats what they were using.

After some more research there was a Cessna 404 Titan allegedly conducting LiDAR passes in the area back in January this year weird thing about it is that they did this at night and a lot of people were complaining about it apparently.

The plane belonged to Reconnaissance Ventures Ltd but they refused to comment on the issue.

That's not what flight instruction looks like.
It's aerial survey. Different agencies and companies need different kinds of imaging, so it's not at all uncommon for the same area to be surveyed several different times by different types of aircraft.

That's an aerial imaging flight. It's used for a bird's eye view type survey of the land.

Lidar and aerial photography for surveying isn't a once and done deal, the idea is to redo all areas every few years. This is how we keep track of smaller roads, forestry, hydrology shit and so on.

Smaller rural roads that don't have proper upkeep dissapear over time, and people build new roads etc. We don't actually survey them on the ground with gps and such, we just draw them from aerial photography and lidar based height models and such. Same with building monitoring for tax purposes, new buildings pop up, and info goes to the tax man.

Where i work we have earial photography done every 4 years or so. And lidar is beginning to be used more frequently now aswell and with higher densities, although there is some national security restrictions on the more denser point clouds as they could reveal state secrets. We also have a law that prevents systematic sonar mapping of the sea bed. Finns aren't allowed to habe submarines after ww2 peace treaty, but i'm sure we have a bunch of secret shit laying on the bottom of the ocean.
