Is there such a thing as a fun job? I started a career break in December which lasts for a year although i don't plan on returning to it (it's a boring office job). I really don't want to chase money anymore but everyone has to make enough to get by which is my aim. The way i see it, if i'm going to be doing something everyday, i at least want to enjoy it. My passion is horse riding and tap dancing but being a stable hand pays too little to get by and tap dancing isn't something that i'd like to turn into a job. I'm thinking about something manual, maybe a truck driver? They get paid enough and it looks comfy. They also do real work and not some made up bullshit like a lot of office jobs are, which is another thing. I want to feel worked at the end of the day which is not the case with office jobs. What do you guys do?
Jobs
Maybe it's degenerate but I liked working in a cafe. Five extra healthy free meals a week, tons of good coffee and lots of walking around and lifting produce
Work makes sense only if you are religious because then work becomes a value in itself. Without religion capitalistic economy will die, because people will be too degenerate and depressed to even wörk.
See, this is what I mean. The way you described it, it makes it sound quite satisfying. That’s all I want tbqh
Sounds like bullshit, like some jobs out there. I doubt many of these religious types would see the benefit and value of working in, let’s say HR.
The comfiest job I ever had was delivering pizza. Some stores were hell, but if you got into the right store with the right coworkers it was pretty nice. Driving around and listening to music all night with drunk tourists giving you big tips. Bunch of cute teenage girls making pizzas.
I also used to work at a state park once and the rangers there looked like they had excellent jobs, living in the park for free, and doing no physical labor besides playing with snakes hikers come across sometimes.
I like my job

Do you think society functions without people maintaining it you stupid fucking gopnik? You can't get potatoes and vodka if someone isn't making those things.
I used to have a "fun" as in interesting and rewarding working as analyst and with databases.
It was also very comfy because I had limited interaction with other people.
The tragedy is that I was good at it, and got promoted as middle manager.
Now I'm often miserable...
Its the sore feet and aching back that no-one mentions.
I live in a village in a borough that is home to one of the UKs best national parks. I ride there all the time. I might look into being a ranger actually. Never thought about that
I'm honestly shocked at how stupid you are that you don't even see your own contradiction.
I’m a welder but love maintaining things. Currently welding in a nasty shop 6 days a week 12 hours a day and want to neck myself. I have found out that amusement parks love to hire welders with my kind of background and I think this pandemic has opened up some slots. Hoping to do maintenance for Six Flags or a Zoo and enjoy the nice summer weather and smells of fried foods. Hope you find something OP
I'm the same. I'm an Architect and I keep being made redundant. It is good job though its just you are on edge all the time expecting the boss to call you into his office and let you go. I as made redundant right before the Pandemic kicked in and frankly I'm thinking of a massive career change.
Well done on finding something you enjoy.
Middle management is a pretty useless role wherever you go. You don’t really need someone there to tell you to work. People get on with it.
Hard work makes me feel alive though.
I’d take a job that made me feel like that over something that just makes me depressed
Tutoring is pretty fun, you basically just shoot the shit all day.
No, not really.
"Do what you love" is also a meme.
The trick is to identify skills that you are good at, and enjoy using. The job that needs that skill is the right job for you.
I really enjoy microsoft Excel, so I found a job that needs a skilled spreadsheeter,
It's still work. It's still a job.
But this is the best it gets.
Don’t welders get paid well? A fun job that pays well is rare. Good luck user.
Why do you think you keep being made redundant though? It’s quite a prestigious job so I would have thought you would find it quite easy to find work too. What are you thinking of changing to?
The only fun job is a blowjob, if you catch my drift.
See if you can get the CIA to pay you to go fight with the Ukrainian rebels, no HR department, no niggers or women, plenty of cigarettes, and you can use automatic weapons.
Happiest job i ever had was being on the lands & grounds crew of a university. Literally just cruised around campus in a golf cart all day doing chill landscaping stuff. My coworkers were 4 boomers who made sure we never did more than 2 actual hours of work a day
Peak comfy
I'm working towards a career in IT, i've realized the value of being able to work remotely. Commuting is hell, offices are hell, i want to be paid for my productivity and knowledge not sitting in a desk 40 hours a week pretending to be busy
Sounds like my previous job. It was fun at first but it really gets to you after awhile. If I didn’t show up to work, nothing would happen because it was a pointless job.
But then just because you’re good at something, doesn’t mean you enjoy it, right? I had to use excel a lot at my previous job and I was pretty good at it, but I hated doing it. I might be a better excel user than a rider, but if a jockey job came up, I’d probably try my luck at it
Not him obviously but the housing market is what drives architect demand, and if people are buying instead of building then there's not much demand to be had. Also he hasn't started his own form after who knows how many jobs at other firms, so that's automatically a red flag.
>a skilled spreadsheeter,
If you can afford to take a break for a year then you probably have enough to start your own business and get out of the office grind. Buy some land and open your own stables maybe.
It's so lonely without you, anons.

Do you have any fucking idea the capital required to even consider that?
I'm a massage therapist. I work for myself, specialized in sports massage and MLD. I enjoy both types of clients, the sports is very satisfying due to the physical demands and the MLD is satisfying because I can see the difference it makes both physically and emotionally. I love my fucking job. The money is fucking banging too.

No, can you explain?
Just be careful with working remotely. It can be really stressful. I worked remotely a lot at my previous jobs and it was quite difficult to find the work/Home life divide. I associated my house, with work because that’s where I did a lot of my work. You could go to a cafe or something but if I’m leaving the house, I might as well just go to the office which I lived close to anyway. There are obvious benefits like avoiding long commutes but it still wasn’t enough for me. You’re expected to be available and if you don’t respond quickly enough, then people assume you’re fucking about.
The biggest lie ever told is that one should go out of their way to make money doing something they love. It's simply not achievable for the majority of people. That's how colleges scammed an entire generation into getting absolutely useless degrees.
You gotta find the value in what you do, regardless of what that is. The alternative is a lifetime of misery and posting on a Cambodian mushroom identification forum.
No, I'm killing myself as soon as I can. I can't keep working anymore. I'm not fit to be a good slave like everybody else.
What kind of rates do you charge? I have a background in sports medicine, worked as a strength coach at a private facility, got contracted by some B-list pro athletes for specialized training
Left the field a few years back because the entire "fitness" industry is pure fucking cancer. However a side business doing sports massage sounds interesting.
