>On Friday, Apple and Google announced a system for tracking the spread of the new coronavirus, allowing users to share data through Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) transmissions and approved apps from health organizations.
I could not archive links because the archiving site was down. Are you going to let Google and Apple track everyone you come in contact with?
I use a custom rom so not sure how that will work. Normal updates with lineage OS breaks shit anyways because fucking pajeets.

>bluetooth
I dont think i have ever used bluetooth once on my phone. i just disabled it permanently :) i suggest everyone does the same, bluetooth is an old slow garbage technology anyways

It's time to drop smartphones and move back to "dumbphones". Unironically.
I have the option to remove the battery when travelling, and it's unlikely older phones have hot-mic, or camera activation designs in them.
Landon Ward
thats why they specifically rolled this into Google Play. Even if youre running LineageOS or some other ROM you get it and theres no possible way to opt out unless you want to lose all your apps

Are landlines still an affordable thing?

I mean both your government and large corporations have been doing this for decades. Snowdon's leaks confirmed everything and it's unsurprising that they just jerry rigged this together. Google is in the business of mass data collection so they can better sell you ads. If you're using firefox you can see how many trackers and stuff have been blocked. Infact in the US ISPs sell real time data to bounty hunters.
Luke Martinez
I expect this from British govt though.
Samuel Baker
That is true. You notice even 100$ smart phones have sealed batteries now-adays? They aren't even waterproof. They just don't want you to be able to pull the battery. Even if the phone is "off" its still getting your information.
Levi Reed
Any way to make one of dem diy style?

The global privacy situation is terrible especially in the US. The US is even trying to actively ban encryption with the EARN IT act.
Every move, every visit across the internet is collected by both private corporations and the US government and have been for a really long time. This is why Cambridge Analytica was so successful and dangerous. They successfully weaponized mass data collection and super specific targeting to basically do a mass propaganda campaign the likes that have never been seen before.
Anyway this isn't anything new nor is it really even news worthy as it's been happening for so long now.
Caleb Moore
>Google is in the business of mass data collection so they can better sell you ads.
I've always wondered, which came first- google selling ads or google used as an NSA proxy to track people?
Is the fact they make profit selling ads just a bonus to true purpose?
William Watson
All large US corporations voluntarily share data with the NSA. Apple, Google, Amazon etc. All confirmed by Snowdon so it's probably even worse now. But their main business is to better target people and sell people shit and the easiest way to do this is to collect more data via offering "free" services.

It's obvious this whole covid-19 thing is just a training op before they begin enforcing their totalitarian state. They gotta test the waters first.

the EU cucks would be more willing to accept something like this than america

Oh yeah I didn't even get into just how terrifying the state of AI is these days. Just look at how advanced China's surveillance state is and there is a massive amount of research going into identifying people even wearing masks. They are leading the world in this stuff but it's definitely not an isolated case study of AI being used for anti-privacy measures.
Kayden Reyes
Hopefully there's a current 'Snowden' sitting somewhere getting fucked off with what the intel agencies are doing, and will do a fresh drop.
The other side is they're probably so paranoid about more leaks they've made the working environment so hostile to human SIGINT operators, that they'll all lose their minds eventually.
Cameron Cox
It can still track by cell tower pings, but it's not nearly as precise as 4G/5G/GPS tracking
