There will be a massive war on the african continent within the next 30 years, comparable in scale to world war I and II.
I won't be World War III, as it won't become a global war involving multiple theaters across the planet. But it will swallow most of sub-saharan africa and most major powers will be sponsoring and supporting different factions.
Sub-saharan africa has an unsustainable population growth, with many regions doubling in population every twenty years. With peak oil, there is no way that poor and undeveloped sub-saharan african countries will be able to sustain such a population. Such a malthusian crisis will push the already unstable countries on the continent over the edge. Countries like the Central African Republic, Chad, DRC are barely functional in a world of plenty of resources. With more than double their current population and rising petroleum prices, they'll be pushed over the edge.
The Great African War will be nothing compared to the total war that is coming.

It's too far away to tell. But if I had to make a guess, it'd be similar to the second Congo War and would most likely involve a collapsing east african federation/the east african countries. If not there, then a collapsing Nigeria with fighting spilling over as far as Chad and Ghana.

Africans simply don’t have the logistical capabilities to have large scale wars. Tank divisions don’t exist. Their conflicts can go on Indefinitely though. Their mindset is set for spouts of 2-4 years of peace between conflicts. It’s more likely that contagions will wipe out Africa though. Bangladesh is about to se 100-300k dead of coronavirus here in 4 weeks.
