My dad was raised in a literal shithole ghetto, put through a broken criminal justice system, and still puts pol to shame with success. My dad was the victim of racial profiling and systemic violence while growing up. He did commit a few crimes when he was young and since he was 18-19 years old they were put on his adult record and sent him to a real adult prison. He was convicted of vandalism from playing mailbox baseball, selling drugs (even though it was his ADHD medication, not real hard drugs), soliciting prostitution, drunk driving, and sexual assault which got him put on the sex offender registry*
*disclamer: he was with a group of people drunk out of his mind and was intentionally touching a girls breast through her shirt with his elbow while pretending like he was just stumbling around. She didn't even care until she found out he was touching her breast intentionally so it wasn't really a big deal fyi.
The police called him things like "criminal nigger" and nonsense to make him feel bad. Well guess what. He ended up getting a plea bargain, got off early, and then ended up with a scholarship for disadvantaged youth to a state college, got honors, and got a scholarship to law school. Today my dad is a lawyer, father of three amazing college honor students, and helps defend disadvantaged people who are a victim of the establishment like he was. My dad is a moderate progressive and he loves it when he meets racist white trash who find out he's a fucking lawyer while they're a mechanic at a local car dealership lmao.
