Yeah basically, pretty sure that him being a mongrel was a retconned feature of the characyer that was only revealed months after the pilot had been uploaded on twitter by the creator. Before that there was no reason to believe he was a mongrel. I think the creator was just fishing for social approval after the fact from her Jewed followers.
