Here in India, nurses have respect but are generally lower middle class and it is considered beneath any respectable person to be dating/marrying a nurse.

It depends on what you consider half my job. Are there nurses that make recommendations about medications and stuff to attending doctors or residents? Sure, but it's pretty rare. In fact most of them will annoy the fuck out of you because they aren't capable or allowed to make big brain decisions.
