Seems one would have to drink 25-30 litres a day to get a full therapeutic dose. The sugar can be avoided by drinking sugar free tonic that uses artificial sweeteners a day. That's far too much water to drink per day, drinking that much water could kill you in itself.
So realistically you could get sugar free tonic water and drink it instead of all your usual water per day, so over the course of the day you might consume five litres and approximately 20% of a therapeutic dose.
