How in the fuck is SAO still a thing? If you watch the anime the first three episodes are fine despite the gary stu MC, then it devolves into literally every single other anime that has ever existed. How is it so popular?

Alicization is the best so far. SAO in general isn't an amazing anime, but it does have a soul of it's own. Each season has 3 or 4 episode arcs that achieve the story goal and don't require 20 more episodes.
I am bummed about the delay. I guess I should read the books.
