Hey Ameribros, are there any White Anglo Saxon Protestants here? How do they fare in mainstream society?
I am non-white foreigner but there is something I find fascinating about old school WASPs. My ideas about them just comes from popular culture though because most whites I have met are Slavic, German, Med or Irish.

WASP’s only exist as a noticeable demographic in northern New England. Everywhere else they’ve been displaced by immigrants since the 1800’s. Almost no one is a pure WASP nowadays. They’re perceived pretty much the same as any other white group.
Out of hundreds of whites I have met, there was only one who described himself as one. He also happened to be from New England.
Most white southerners are literal white Anglo Saxon Protestants and most are descended from pre 1840s settlers. They may not be who you think of as a WASP though.

On another note while there might be very few pure WASP nowadays, is it odd that people don't even acknowledge it as partial ancestry?
For example, while most whites here are mixed, they would mention Irish, Polish, German, French, Scottish etc. as their ancestry. Except one, no one mentioned English ancestry at all.
Is there any pride associated with that heritage or any feeling of kinship with the mother country?
Like the one in OP who wrote about his love for mother England.

My ancestors were poor farmers, mixing with German and Irish immigrants long before the term WASP was used, so it seems silly to identify with it. And on top of that my ancestors were actually Normans, so it's doubly pointless.

People want to claim the most exotic sounding ancestry. I'm English from both sides of the family. I'm proud of my heritage even if I enjoy giving Limeys shit any time the opportunity presents itself. What siblings don't have a spirited rivalry?

this sounds very familiar to what I read about the Romans.
Like they went from being proudly distinct from even the other Latin people to eventually the roman identity becoming more mixed and civic identity (Gallo-Romans, Greeks, Britons etc. larping as Romans)

tfw of my 12 sibling and first cousins, there is exactly one marriage (not to a white guy) with one mixed baby, and one unwed mother to a white baby. No other kids, and given the age and state of the family I'd be surprised if there are more than another 4 kids total, tops.

My last name is the anglicised version of a landmark in Normandy, and the name first appeared in England right after the Norman invasion. Of course history is crazy, and a normal Englishman could've acquired the name a number of ways.
I am a French American. My ancestors teamed up with Native Tribes and did Raids on New England Anglo-Saxon settlements, until the Anglo-Saxons retaliated against us.
Maybe among old money families, not generally, not much.
There's a WASP presence at the top, for sure but make no mistake, the establishment is dominated by a ((different)) group and their ancient generational wealth.
I'm at least half English/Scottish and Welsh with Swedish and a little Irish, and I'm Protestant.
We don't have the United Church here. If you really want to see WASPs in the US, you'd go to Episcopalian, Congregational UCC or maybe liberal Presbyterian.

I and my whole family are wasp. Our first ancestor with our family name was a deacon at first church in Medfield Massachusetts before the revolutionary war.
My wifes family and mine both have sons of the American revolution, sons of confederate veterans, and daughters of the republic of Texas membership.

WASP stood for “wealthy Anglo-Saxon Protestant”. The nonsensical change to “white” cake later by idiots who apparently think there is such thing as a non-white Anglo-Saxon.
The place in the US with the highest percentage of Anglo-Saxons is Appalachia and the South. WASP was never used to refer to people in trailer parks, it referred to the WEALTHY old money elite, mostly in the northeast.

I have browsed Yas Forums for quite a few years and it hasn't rubbed off on me, although you could say that it is a convenient position for me since being a non-white I have nothing to benefit from Yas Forums ideas becoming mainstream.
I am a northern New England pureblood WASP. The only real privilege nowadays is our genetically high intelligence, intuition, and ingenuity. That’s why we’re still on top up here, even though the “old money” died out.

I grew up in an area with a lot of German Catholics, and I never felt totally comfortable with them. My family was not wealthy, but when I lived in New York City, I noticed that people who were from New York and not Protestant were sometimes uneasy with me and assumed things about me because of my ethnic background and because I have the classic reserved WASP manner. It was all very odd.

interestingly enough, the only WASP guy I ever met had a different air about him. he was pretty cool and nice guy, but kinda stood out from the other white coworkers. some of the white girls told him he had "privilege", though in harmless fun not in SJW malice
