It shouldn't be hard, but for some reason people love to live in the city to work minimum wage and share an apartment with two or three others.

I am a trained electrician. 450$ per month for me.

Most burgers don't treat money like money, instead they live on debt.
They have credit cards/afterpay, and their wages all go directly towards the minimum monthly repayments,
If they earn $1k/month, and they need to pay $800/month in minimum repayments, then they "Have" $200/month cash.
They won't use this to pay off their debt, it just means now they have $200 to spend before they start spending on their card again.
Or maybe they save it, and just spend on their cards directly.
They'll do this until their monthly repayment matches their salary, at which point they starve/stop spending anything to prevent their minimum monthly repayment from increasing further.

This is how burgers treat money.

If I made 50K/year, and had 30K of debt I could pay that off in less than 2 years (probably 1 year).

$1800 is about a full 40hr week worth of work before taxes. After taxes you'll end up with like ~$1350ish for yourself. Not including bonuses you'll need a base salary of around $90k/yr to maintain that on a weekly basis, which is normal for middle management level positions.
That being said if this guy donated that to bernie he will never make even close to that much money in his life.

you need to consider what you can buy with $1800 here as well. that will basically cover 1 month's rent.

Buying expensive shit they don't need. Typically cars, houses. Things they have to make payments on. Also a lot gets set aside into other assets like stawks and speculative realty.

I have a friend who’s father inherited a hiuse and lost it bc he kept refinancing and taking equity out. His son took out loans to pay for college, got a job offer with a signing bonus. Took the bonus money and used it as a down payment on a top of the line Jeep. Also has a trash credit score bc he hasn’t paid his utilities for college. Could go on for days. It’s relatively common.

A big thing that fucks people is housing. They automatically assume owning is better than renting and don’t even look into the numbers. 50k over market but pretty cabinets? Sign me up
