OP I don't think you're wrong to feel this way. As an American who has been to Mexico a few times, just the nice touristy parts in Quinana Roo, I can say that Mexico is basically a more retarded version of the US culture except they speak Spanish. All the materialism and consumerism and other bullshit that exists here exists in Mexico, just in an even more base and simplified form.
Unfortunately OP I don't think you'll really be that happy in Canada or the USA unless you end up getting a great job and living in a rich area or a small community doing internet work. Most of our big cities are just as boring and uneventful as Monterrey, if not moreso. I've seen photos of your soccer stadium, it is truly beautiful and better than nearly any baseball or football stadium in the US.
