Private schools have a vested interest in their pupils, & as a result they really pay attention. When a student starts displaying any signs of mental distress they swoop in & take action. Public schools get the same pay & funding regardless.

Generally: Higher IQ students. The teachers and administration also treat the students better. Asshole teachers and disruptive students and thugs are kicked out, so no targets.
Public (aka government) schools have none of those. Back in the old days asshole teachers, administrators, and students would be kicked out. Now, that would be racist (against niggers and spics) and sexist (against female teachers and administrators) and against union contracts.
