The native Irish were being treated as second class citizens in northern Ireland. People in higher power stirred the pot for trouble between the two groups. They encouraged the freemason orange order to pass sectarianism. The nationalist irish rebelled and it all turned to extreme violence. It became a war zone with paramilitary groups controlling their own areas. Went on for years until the provisional ira killed a member of the British monarch. Then they signed up a peace treaty and the place has clamed down since. I've noticed the same people who owned the media trying to push the troubles again during Brexit but luckily it never took off. Now northern Ireland is becoming more liberal like the uk and the republic. They're just 10 years behind.
