what can be done to fight the sudden cyclist movement? in my area there was a corridor improvement that made our roads narrow to accommodate protected bike lanes,it also makes for far more traffic when there's inevitably an accident when there's no emergency lanes. In my area all the islands are smeared black because people keep rubbing on them, this is not acceptable for the wide vehicles (personal and commercial) it makes for a stressful commute/drive. I just find it funny how they advertise an improved driving experience with what they claimed was a corridor improvement for me,i have had plenty of close calls with wide vehicles or people just hovering over to my lane. They claim that cyclists help alleviate traffic but it has only made things worse since they had to slow cars down with narrow lanes and more stoplights.

It doesn't work. They cycle-fucked many roads in San Diego to get California grant money yet it's rare I see a single cyclist on them. Meanwhile, traffic got much worse until drivers decided to just stop giving a shit and drive in the bike lanes. Same with our carpool lanes which were attempts to force everyone to sacrifice rather than build shit to support drivers, they're way less efficient than having added regular lanes.
they expect the same volume as the dutch which is why they gave us their infrastructure but it will NEVER hit the volume needed to warrant it. always just one or two every so often, if anything make bus lanes
